Eagles
An Eagle is a type of bird that lives in most parts of the world.

An Eagle is a carnivore and therefore only eats meat. Sometimes they
go for humans.

Eagles have a long beak and razor sharp talents. They have long tough wings and sharp eyes for spotting prey. They have large wings that are very useful when hunting down prey.

Eagles are dying out because their habitats are getting cut down and they are being poison.

Eagles breed once a year. They do not lay eggs so they are born at birth.

Eagles fly long distances so they are found in most parts of the world. Eagles are not found in cold places.

Pikelets

Hi, For writing we made pikelets. I have written an explanation about how to make pikelets. 


Explanation Writing - Making Pikelets

Interesting title: How to make yummy pikelets

Introduction: Have you ever wondered how to make pikelets? Pikelets are a small sweet fluffy treat.

First, wash your hands and gather the ingredients.

Second, sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.

Thirdly, in another bowl beat an egg and sugar with a whisk until pale and thick.

Then, add the egg mixture and milk into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.

After that, gently heat a nonstick frying pan and put butter on it. Put teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto the frying pan.

Finally, wait till they start to bubble then flip them. Wait one minute until the other side is golden. Now you can eat them.

That is how to make pikelets.

Adverb cameo

Adverbs
                                                                                                               
Learning Intention:  We are learning to use adverbs as sentence starters in our cameo writing.

Success Criteria:
- I know what an adverb is.
- I know that I can start a sentence with an adverb.
- I know that a noun/pronoun always follows an adverb sentence starter.
- I know that the adverb must match the verb in the sentence.

Highlight in blue the adverbs
Highlight in yellow the gold for glory words

Remember: Adverbs can also be in the middle or at the end of the sentence.

WINTER

Splish, splosh, glug, glug, gloop. Slowly I trudged through the slick slimy mud. My new purple gumboots groaned repetitively as I walked all the way home across the farm land. Glug, slop, glug, slop. The dark clouds threatened evilly as they held off the torrential rain that was due. Suddenly my sister jumped out from behind an old pine tree as I passed it. I fell backwards. Splat! I was covered completely. Gradually I struggled to my feet and stood there, chocolate dipped and freezing like an ice-cream cone. Angrily I chased her all the way home.

Your Task: To write about going for a walk in another season.
                                                             Spring  

Sprout,sprout. Quietly I walked down the gray concrete path. I had new shining clean running shoes that I was wearing. Happily I looked at all the green plants in the gardens. The golden ball in the blue sky shined on to me like a heater heating a room up. Slowly the rainbow coloured flowers were growing every minute of the day. It was nice seeing the plants grow. Slowly I walked around the roundabout. Carefully I started walking back.

  


                                                                        Here is my basic facts goal.

Partly Cloudy

We watched a short video called Partly Cloudy. We had to write descriptive sentences using adverbs as sentence starters to describe what happened. This is my story.

Partly cloudy

Swiftly the birds flew down to the wooden houses delivering cute baby kittens.
Slowly the big birds gave the cute little animals a home.
Then they flew into the nice soft clouds swiftly.
Magically the big fluffy clouds made little cute animals.
They bagged the little cute animals carefully.
Sadly there was a little grey cloud below.  
Soon bird came over to it.
The sad cloud was suddenly so happy.
The cloud made a crocodile and bagged it up.
Then the sad cloud made a ram.
Fastly the ram bucked the big bird.
The bird looked up and saw a happy bird.
Slowly he flew away with the ram.
Worriedly he got back not sure what he might find.
The sad cloud created a hedgehog.
He bagged it up and the bird took it away.
He flew to the cloud above.
The sad cloud got super angry striking lightning.
He started to cry creating rain below.
Happily the cloud above gave the bird armour.
Happily the sad cloud wiped away his tears.
He made an electric eel.
Softly they cuddled each other.

Autumn Cameo

Easter

“Wow!” On Easter I went to Marsden Estate with my family. I started by trying to find Flin because he wasn’t sitting waiting for me. Then I chucked some sticks for him. He kept on snapping them like a branch chopper. After that I had lunch on the outside table next to a big berry tree. I had salami and blue vein cheese on sliced bread for lunch. Yummy! Finally it was the end of the day. I said goodbye to everyone and we left. I had a great time with my family.

Volcano Erupting

Here is my moment in time writing about the erupting volcano.

Sssssssss!! Boom! Bang! The big volcano is giving a clue that it is about to erupt. Seconds later… a whistling of steam. Some of the ground on the giant mountain starts to disappear.  Hot flaming rocks fly out. The flaming rocks hit the ground and destroy anything in its path. Soon the rocks finish flying out. Suddenly hot burning lava flows down the big volcano. On the way it destroys anything in its way. Finally it will turn to black rock, as it slowly cools down.

Yaaayy! Yesterday we climbed up Te AhuAhu mountain. As we began our walk we walked past the big brown cows. They were munching on the fresh green grass. My legs were sore.  We followed the big tractor trail up to the three big gates. My legs are sore, I thought to myself. After we past the final gate I saw three mysterious holes. I wondered what they were from?    

Once we got to the top we listened to Hone telling us about World War one and two. As we sat there in the long green grass we could see the large lake.

After that we had our lunch and then we walked back to the bottom. Finally we arrived back at school and it was the end of the day. It was an exciting trip.

I wonder when I’m going to do it again?

Have you ever tried using a chromebook? Yesterday Ohaeawai School was handing out chromebooks to all the year 4s. My one was one of the last ones to be handed out. Then everyone counted down. “10.9.8.7.6.5.4.3.2.1!” shouted the school. “Yaayy!” I said. We untied the ribbon. We tore the boxes open and there it was. The magic computer thing. We wanted to open the screen but we couldn’t.
