Explanation writing test

Kia Ora,
I have just done a explanation writing test. Here it is.

Name:Antonio
Explanation Writing - Term 4

Prompt: - - Write to describe one environmental problem and explain what people do to reduce its impact on the planet.

Start Writing Here:

Environmental is the natural world and things humans do with the planet. Problems are something that is unwelcomed and need to be overcome. I have found out some solutions to help stop environmental problems. Here they are.

Firstly, pollution. Pollution is a toxic and is bad for the environment. You can help stop pollution by using reusable bags. Another way to help stop pollution is to conserve energy and remember to turn off lights, computers and electric appliances when they are not being used.

Secondly, Deforestation. Deforestation is when a wide area of forest is cut down. You can help this by planting trees. Another way to help is by not wasting paper. You can also help by buying recyclable products and not products which will go to the waste.

Thirdly, Waste Disposal. Waste Disposal is when you dispose of thing that can be reusable. If you have clothes that you no longer fit you can donate them. You can also buy stuff with less packaging.

These are three things that I thought of that will help stop environmental problems. If we stopped these three things we can have a happy healthy planet. Thank you for reading. Good bye.

How Grandparents Cope with Weak bones

Kia Ora,
We have been doing a lot of writing for Greats and Grands activities. I made a explanation for Grandparents with Weak Bones. Here it is.

How Grandparents Cope with Weak bones.

A grandparent is a person who is old enough for their baby to have a baby. When people start to get old different parts of their bodies start to get worn out and they can no longer do what they could do before. This is called aging and it causes many problems. One aging problem that a grandparent may have to deal with is having weak bones.

One thing that a grandparent can do to cope with weak bones is to make sure that they do exercise. A 10 minute walk everyday will help strengthen your bones.

A second thing they can do is eat vegetables and have lots of protein and eat high calcium foods throughout the day.

A third thing that a grandparent could do is to have medicine. You should ask your doctor about having a medicine. These will help strengthen your bones.

Weak bones can be a difficult aging problem for grandparents to deal with but people are hopeful that improvements in medicine will be a big help for this in the future.

Speech Writing

Kia Ora, we have been making speeches for a competition. I wrote about why smoking is bad. I also was doing a project on Taiamia Rock so I didn't get as much time to make my speech as some people did. Here is my work.

Have you ever wondered how bad smoking is or are you a smoker?
Hi, my name is Antonio. Today I’m going to tell you how bad smoking really is.
A smoke is something that people have. It has over 4,000 chemicals including
tobacco, nicotine, tin, carbon monoxide and much much more. I believe that
Smoking is bad and here is why.
Firstly, Smoking is bad for your health. Smokes are disgusting, dirty and death
causing. You can get 43 different types of cancers from it. You can also get over
400 different diseases. That is a lot of diseases. Yet, some people think that
smoking is healthy for you. Come on guys think about your own safety. Over
half a million people die per year. In New Zealand 13 people die per day from smoking. I never want to smoke. That’s for sure.
Secondly, Smokes are super expensive. Governments are raising the prices
instead of banning them. Everybody is buying them even though the prices are
going up. People are becoming poor because they are buying smokes. Think
about that. You could be poor from smoking. Over 6.5 trillion smokes are sold
per year. That means if everybody in the world smoked including babies and
kids we would buy over 84000 each, every year. Now that's going to far.
Thirdly, Smoking is addictive. People can’t stop smoking without any help.
Lots of the chemicals make smoking so addictive like nicotine. Man those
chemicals are bad.  Most people that are trying to quit have to have pills or
a needle or even patches. Even google is saying to not smoke,
GOOGLE PEOPLE!
So, I’m sure you will totally agree that smoking is super bad, it’s really bad for
your health, it’s way too expensive and it’s really addictive. So cut to the chase.
Call the quitline if are still smoking and if you’re not, help people you know,
to stop. Thank you for listening.

Published holiday recount

Hello, I have now fixed all of the mistakes in my Recount. I Hope you enjoy my published version more than my draft version because I turned all of the start of places into capital letters.

Yay! I said as I woke up. I was down at Taumuranui with my
nana and poppa. My poppa and me were going tobogganing on
Mount Ruapehu.

We both had our own toboggans to use. My nana put really hot
clothes on me. My poppa and I headed for Mount Ruapehu.
When we finally got there it wasn't as cold as we thought it
would be. It was really hot actually. I was sweating like a pig.
My poppa and I went down the slope a few times. I went down
the slope a bit more than my popa. After we finished
tobogganing we rode up the ski lifts. When we looked down it
was like looking out the window of a plane.

Me and my poppa had lunch. Then we rode the ski lift back
down again. We walked down to our car, we got in the car and
started driving back. While we were driving back we stopped
and played some mini golf. I won the game. We hopped in the
car and finally went home. In conclusion I had a great day.
