Explanation writing test

Kia Ora,
I have just done a explanation writing test. Here it is.

Name:Antonio
Explanation Writing - Term 4

Prompt: - - Write to describe one environmental problem and explain what people do to reduce its impact on the planet.

Start Writing Here:

Environmental is the natural world and things humans do with the planet. Problems are something that is unwelcomed and need to be overcome. I have found out some solutions to help stop environmental problems. Here they are.

Firstly, pollution. Pollution is a toxic and is bad for the environment. You can help stop pollution by using reusable bags. Another way to help stop pollution is to conserve energy and remember to turn off lights, computers and electric appliances when they are not being used.

Secondly, Deforestation. Deforestation is when a wide area of forest is cut down. You can help this by planting trees. Another way to help is by not wasting paper. You can also help by buying recyclable products and not products which will go to the waste.

Thirdly, Waste Disposal. Waste Disposal is when you dispose of thing that can be reusable. If you have clothes that you no longer fit you can donate them. You can also buy stuff with less packaging.

These are three things that I thought of that will help stop environmental problems. If we stopped these three things we can have a happy healthy planet. Thank you for reading. Good bye.

How Grandparents Cope with Weak bones

Kia Ora,
We have been doing a lot of writing for Greats and Grands activities. I made a explanation for Grandparents with Weak Bones. Here it is.

How Grandparents Cope with Weak bones.

A grandparent is a person who is old enough for their baby to have a baby. When people start to get old different parts of their bodies start to get worn out and they can no longer do what they could do before. This is called aging and it causes many problems. One aging problem that a grandparent may have to deal with is having weak bones.

One thing that a grandparent can do to cope with weak bones is to make sure that they do exercise. A 10 minute walk everyday will help strengthen your bones.

A second thing they can do is eat vegetables and have lots of protein and eat high calcium foods throughout the day.

A third thing that a grandparent could do is to have medicine. You should ask your doctor about having a medicine. These will help strengthen your bones.

Weak bones can be a difficult aging problem for grandparents to deal with but people are hopeful that improvements in medicine will be a big help for this in the future.

Published holiday recount

Hello, I have now fixed all of the mistakes in my Recount. I Hope you enjoy my published version more than my draft version because I turned all of the start of places into capital letters.

Published holiday recount

Yay! I said as I woke up. I was down at Taumuranui with my
nana and poppa. My poppa and me were going tobogganing on
Mount Ruapehu.

We both had our own toboggans to use. My nana put really hot
clothes on me. My poppa and I headed for Mount Ruapehu.
When we finally got there it wasn't as cold as we thought it
would be. It was really hot actually. I was sweating like a pig.
My poppa and I went down the slope a few times. I went down
the slope a bit more than my popa. After we finished
tobogganing we rode up the ski lifts. When we looked down it
was like looking out the window of a plane.

Me and my poppa had lunch. Then we rode the ski lift back
down again. We walked down to our car, we got in the car and
started driving back. While we were driving back we stopped
and played some mini golf. I won the game. We hopped in the
car and finally went home. In conclusion I had a great day.

We have been doing argument writing. Here is my argument writing.

Why trees should be protected.

I believe that trees should be protected. A tree is a beautiful living thing. Trees  are usually big with branches and leaves and they are essential for life on Earth.

Firstly, Trees make oxygen. A single tree produces approximately 260 pounds of oxygen per  year. Oxygen is one of the gases found in air and most life forms on Earth could not exist without it. Including me!!!!! Humans need to breathe in oxygen to survive.

Secondly, Trees get rid of Co2 because they breathe it in from the atmosphere. Too much Co2 in the atmosphere is bad for mostbn  lifeforms on Earth. Including me!!!! 10 years old trees are estimated to absorb 48 pounds of CO2 per year from the atmosphere.  Thank goodness for trees. They help keep the air fresh and healthy

Finally, Trees produce food and timber for us to use. Trees make flowers that bloom and fruit appears from them. Fruit is what people and many other animals eat  to stay healthy. Some fruit are juicy and crunchy and they are so yummy. Timber is from the trunk of a tree, you also use timber to make a fire. We use timber to make things like power poles, fencing and houses.

Under no circumstances  should lots of trees be cut down.  We will all breathe much easier, the air will be fresher  and more healthy for us, and there will always be lots of timber for use to use and fruits for us to eat. We already live on the most tree covered and beautiful planet in the universe. Let’s save trees and make it even more amazing.

Glow in the dark mini golf

We needed to write a recount. Here is my work.

Have you ever played glow in the dark mini golf?
I loved it when I got to play it. My mum,my step cousin and me drove to Whangarei.  It was fun.
“Yahoo!” I said. The first hole was one where you had to rebound it off the wall. The second one was a bit harder. You had to get it through the little hole in the spinning circle. The third hole was one where you had to be precise with the power. I got a lucky shot. I was speeding like a super-charged robot around the course.  I got a hole in one.  I was a machine. I was as proud as a soldier that won World War 1.

Plink! The ball fell into the hole. “I’m doing great” I said. After that we played a few more holes, and on the seventh hole my cousin nearly rebounded it off the wall into the hole in the next course. You are a circus performer,” I said.

At the end we did the maze hole . It looked like a group of whales. The first shot I did was a pretty good shot. I kept on trying to get up the temple and  at the end I got a seven. I got on par.  That was the best day ever.
